Job Overview
Mechanical Inspector (Casual Part Time) – Qubec. Intertek is searching for a Mechanical Inspector to join our Technical Inspection Services team in Qubec. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Inspection Services. The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for performing visual inspection of materials and/or fabricated equipment at vendor shops or on-site fabrication or testing facilities.
Responsibilities- Perform inspections or audits and review testing for conformance to client specifications, industry standards, and approved procedures, and report results.
- Review material test reports for conformance with applicable codes and standards.
- Follow up dispositions and corrective actions related to non‑conformances.
- Document inspection activities in electronic formats.
- Evaluate and agree upon project quality procedures, standards, and specifications ensuring that all parties (engineering, procurement, manufacturing) adhere to them.
- Review Inspection & Testing Plans to ensure a standardized minimum level of surveillance in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Identify critical inspections and tests to be witnessed by the owner.
- Carry out inspection visits as per ITPs either personally or through a 3rd‑party resource.
The position will travel at least 25% of the time. All inspectors are used on an adhoc basis and are not provided daily duties; assignments are based on client needs, availability, location, taxonomy approvals, and specific client requests.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED, Trade School, On‑The‑Job Training or University Diploma.
- 5+ years of third‑party vendor inspection, expediting, or auditing experience.
- Experience in quality control inspections and tests, including nondestructive testing techniques, mechanical testing, dimensional inspection, pressure testing, and coating inspections.
- Technical training in subjects such as quality, NDT, blueprint reading, industry standards, auditing, expediting, materials, welding, coatings, electrical components, instrumentation, pressure testing, well control, equipment operation, and assembly.
- Experience with mechanical/pressure vessels and lifting equipment.
- Basic knowledge of material properties.
- Clear understanding of basic procurement and fabrication processes with knowledge of relevant codes and specifications for the oil and gas industry.
- Ability to travel frequently throughout the continental U.S.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs and Outlook.

Valid industry certification such as AWS CWI, CWB Level 2, API 510, 570, SI, ASNT, or CGSB NDT Level II or III.
