Job Description – Project Geologist (14996)
IAMGOLD is currently hiring two Project Geologists (1‑year contract) to join our dynamic exploration team.
As a Project Geologist, you’ll lead the design and execution of well‑planned, cost‑effective exploration programs that align with IAMGOLD’s mining, development, and growth strategies. You’ll make day‑to‑day decisions in the field, interpret results, and recommend future exploration activities. Your work will contribute to the discovery and development of new resources, and you may also support technical aspects of other projects within your area of expertise.

You’ll manage logistics and provide technical supervision to field teams, including geologists, students, and contractors. From purchasing supplies to coordinating fieldwork, your leadership will help ensure projects run smoothly and safely. You’ll also contribute to geological reporting and documentation that supports decision‑making and regulatory compliance.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need a post‑secondary degree in Geology, registration as a professional geologist, and 5+ years of experience in mineral exploration, ideally with a focus on gold. Project management experience is an asset, along with strong interpersonal skills, a sense of urgency, and advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Excel, QGIS, Map Info). A valid Quebec driver’s license is required, and First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
For the two Project Geologist positions currently open, candidates must be bilingual and demonstrate strong written communication skills in French. These roles will integrate into exploration teams overseeing projects in both the Chibougamau and Abitibi regions. A high degree of flexibility and mobility between these regions is required. Both positions will report administratively to the Regional Val‑d’Or office. These are one‑year fixed‑term contract positions.
