Mino Obigiwasin Services Enfance & Famille Anicinape was set up to provide child and family services to the Anicinape population. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT to manage youth protection for the 4 Anicinape communities:
Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan) and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin's vision is to ensure a stable, safe, happy and culturally-rooted environment for all Anicinape children and families.
JOB SUMMARY  In keeping with Mino Obigiwasin's mission, orientations, values and general policies, the incumbent is responsible for providing youth protection services with a view to engaging children, their parents or legal guardians, as well as community resources, in the implementation of solutions to the difficulties and issues they face.
Under the authority of the head of service for the application of measures serving the Lac Simon community, the intervener aims to put an end to the situation that compromises the child's development or safety, and to prevent its recurrence. In the performance of his/her duties and in the execution of the voluntary measures agreement or order, the incumbent works closely with an interdisciplinary team and in partnership with community resources.
Role and responsibilities :
Ensure the follow-up of children and adolescents in a natural or substitute environment, in accordance with the YPA;
Provide help, advice and assistance to compromised youth and their families through individual, family or group psychosocial interventions;
Develop and implement, in collaboration with them, an intervention plan aimed at putting an end to the compromise, based on an assessment of the situation of the child and his or her family;
Work closely and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team and other partners, including the extended family and community resources, in a context of exchange and complementarity;
Make referrals to appropriate resources and ensure follow-up, if necessary;
Submit recommendations to the DYP on the regime and measures applicable to the situation of young people in follow-up;
Ensure compliance with and enforcement of child protection measures (voluntary or judicial);
Act as petitioner before the Youth Court when required, and testify when necessary;
Participate in and actively contribute to various projects, clinical or administrative meetings and working committees related to his/her duties;
Perform administrative tasks related to physical and computerized record keeping, including report writing.
REQUIREMENTS   Technical degree in social work, criminology, delinquency intervention, special education, police or equivalent (or with field experience in intervention);
Relevant experience in community intervention or youth protection;
Knowledge and experience in the First Nations environment, an asset;
Class 5 driver's license.
