Speed Skating Canada (SSC), the national governing body for the sport of speed skating in Canada, is looking for an enthusiastic individual for the newly created position of Coordinator, Events. Reporting to the Manager, Events & Partnerships. The successful candidate will play a critical role in achieving SSC’s strategic business priorities through the organization and execution of world‑class international events.

Responsibilities

International Events

  • Coordinate logistics for Canadian‑hosted international competitions, working closely with local organizing committees to ensure high‑quality delivery.
  • Manage assigned event portfolios such as transportation, accommodation, accreditation, volunteers, hosting, and team/spectator services.
  • Maintain and track event assets, including signage, equipment, and other materials.
  • Implement sponsor activation plans in alignment with SSC agreements and international federation requirements.
  • Support bidding processes for future international events.

Event Support

  • Prepare grant applications and reporting for funding partners supporting international competitions.
  • Assist SSC staff with domestic competitions, sponsor initiatives, and other event‑based projects.
  • Research and apply best practices in event hosting, volunteer engagement, and spectator experience.

Communications & Administration

  • Support marketing and communications plans for international events in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team.
  • Provide on‑site communications support, including photography coordination, media interactions, and athlete appearances.
  • Assist with day‑to‑day servicing of SSC sponsors and partners.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Post‑secondary education in sport administration, communications, event management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of event management experience, ideally in sport or the not‑for‑profit sector.
  • Strong interest in sport; familiarity with speed skating is an asset.
