Deckhand

Overview

Deckhand role at Ocean / Océan. The vessel Océan Traverse Nord performs suction dredging; the deckhand operator will perform deckhand duties and operate the dredging system.

• Participate in various ship maneuvers (docking, anchoring, unloading, etc.).
• Take part in dredging operations in cooperation with the officer of the watch.
• Operate the dredging equipment during dredging operations, ensuring the vessel is loaded correctly.
• Participate in the work and general maintenance of the ship.
• Operate onboard equipment safely and report any damage or malfunctions.
• Carry out the instructions of the officer on watch.
• Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

• Bridge watchkeeping certificate
• FUM Basic Safety STCW-BS
• Operation of lifeboats and rescue boats (FUM PSC)
• Building personnel with security responsibilities (BPSR)
• Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (RRO-CM)
• Valid STCW medical certificate
• Basic first aid at sea (asset)
• Valid Canadian passport
• Sailor experience relevant to the position
• Ability to work well in a team
• Languages:
  
  advanced level in French and intermediate level in English, spoken and written
