Canyon State Academy is located on a scenic 180-acre campus surrounded by Farm student housing for 300 + youth, a Thrift Store, Cafe, Barbershop and Church open to the community incorporating life skills for our students. Along with a fully equipped weight room, football stadium, an athletic center (gymnasium, padded wrestling room & more).

What you’ll do:
- Identify students needing specialized speech or language services, instruction, curriculum, activities and classes and support them with solutions that enable them to thrive in a learning environment and achieve academic goals.
- Facilitate individual and/or group therapy activities using curriculum-based materials and content and provide progress reports and documentation as needed.
- Supervise support staff as needed and consult with fellow educators regarding accommodations, needs, instructional strategies, necessary equipment and support.
- Provide augmentative and alternative communication systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language disorders.
- Create a classroom and learning environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students and allows them to perform at their very best. Then celebrate them!
- Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success!
- Explore individual needs and give side‑by‑side support to discover how each student best learns and develop personalized solutions to each students learning style and abilities.
- Respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to the position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly and patient manner.
- Maintain courteous relationships with students, staff, parents, and community, treating all with respect.
- Being active in the role when lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required. Participating in events outside of normal hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Master’s or higher degree in the field
- Meeting requirements provided below based on state the position is located:
- AZ: ADHS license and ADE PreK–12 SLP Certification
- Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence – SLP
