Nursery Worker

Job Overview

Employees will be involved in all aspects of growing trees and shrubs in containers. Their daily responsibilities include trimming, pruning, weeding, watering, maintaining irrigation systems, staking and applying fertilizers, mixing soil amendments on an occasional basis, and maintaining landscaping and windbreaks. The role also involves potting plants from 1‑gallon perennials up to 100‑gallon trees.

• Forklift Operator
  :
  Loads and unloads trucks and trailers transporting plants to ranches or fields; moves carts from the germination room to tunnels; unloads peat moss and vermiculite; places pallets and trays. Protective gear (dust mask, gloves, safety glasses) required.
• Tractor Operator
  :
  Drives and controls farm equipment for tilling, planting, cultivating, mowing, and harvesting crops. Operates irrigation tape injectors, plastic mulch lay equipment, harvest trailers, and manual loading/unloading. May handle company‑owned vehicles; driving is optional.

Work is performed outdoors for long periods, in rain, snow, wind, sun, high humidity, and extreme temperatures. Workers should not have allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, or related chemicals. Proper personal protective equipment and durable work clothing with boots are mandatory. Casual clothing is not permitted.

Unpaid lunch break after 5 hours of work. Overtime may be requested but not required. Employees must report to work at the designated time and may be required to work on Sundays or federal holidays.

The employer does not conduct background checks. Termination may occur for criminal convictions, sex offender status, or unlawful behavior on the worksite. The work described is seasonal full‑time, with possible temporary reductions in work due to the agricultural cycle. Employees may be terminated for job‑related reasons such as frequent absences, refusal to work, or unqualification.
