PositionSummary
A Kemgard Operator is responsible for producing a quality product as specified in the DP409001 “Production Sampling and Testing Guidelines”, ensuring quality of product is within specifications, the correct product is packaged following plant instructions, package labeling meets requirements, finished product weights are within range. Plant orders could be in bags weighing up to 50 lbs. or super sacks. The Kemgard Operator reports to the Production Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Huber Sustainability Management Standard requirements, within their sphere of influence. This may or may not include compliance with any air permits, wastewater permits, stormwater permits, or other rules as presented to the employee as requirements.
- In charge of monitoring their equipment for visible emissions, immediate shutdown of equipment with visible emissions and reporting emissions to their Manager.
- Report all spills, incidents, and near hits to their Manager, and input into Enablon.
- The Kemgard Operator operates the Kemgard process, including filling super sacks and manual bagging / palletizing finished product weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Staging of raw materials in dosing area.
- Perform simple tests & data collections for the process engineer and/or management team.
- Blends products utilizing blender and packages appropriately per customer orders when needed.
- Performs product changeovers.
- Conducts daily area inspections of Kemgard system to identify any unsafe conditions and reports them in Enablon as well as enter a work request when necessary.
- Operates system from HMI (Human Machine Interface) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operates bag printer to label unprinted bags. Ensures packaging labeling is accurate per DOT, IMDG, and IATA requirements.
- Cleans super sacks and bagged pallets in the pallet blow‑off booth and wraps them to stabilize for shipment.
- Warehouses finished product.
- Performs preventative maintenance servicing of equipment as required. Ensures all applicable equipment is locked out before repair work begins.
- Obtains in‑process, final product, or load‑out samples on pre‑determined intervals DP409001 “Production Sampling and Testing Guidelines” or as specified on the LW403003 “Plant Order Instructions”.
- Prepares required daily operation reports and fills out daily production logs.
- Advises maintenance of operating problems and conditions.
- Employees must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include occasional assignments which would be within the evaluation of this job.
- Follow ISO 9001 guidelines and supports the quality management system.
- Operates forklift.
- Consults with Maintenance personnel and initiates action to correct any problems if any are found.
- Notifies Production Manager of any problems that will or may impact a confirmed finished product customer ship date.
- Consults with QC Lab Technician to assure compliance with quality control specifications.
- Maintains and oversees good housekeeping practices of the Kemgard area.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate Mill clean out, trials, Plant needs, etc.
- Stencils product with customer information, repalletizes product, dumps nonconforming product.
- Complete and document daily visible emission readings.
- Provide leadership to the Utility Operators in blending section.
- Attend regular meetings, including Daily Huddle and Team Meetings.
- Must use handheld scanners for bar coding and inventory when needed.
