Senior Accountant

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and highly organized small business Senior Accountant to handle day‑to‑day financial operations and administrative functions. This role is responsible for managing all company financial records, monthly reporting and analysis, HR & 401k administration.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for management review.
  • Record and maintain all financial transactions, including customer invoices, vendor invoices, cash receipts, and bank transfers.
  • Manage all aspects of accounts receivable – invoicing, receipts, credit checks, and collections.
  • Manage all aspects of accounts payable – invoicing, vendor relationships, making timely payments to ensure all trade discounts are taken.
  • Maintain general ledger and perform regular monthly account reconciliations.
  • File State Sales Tax Returns and Corporate Tax Deposits in a timely manner; support external accountants with information throughout the year as needed and year‑end tax filing.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist with audits and government reporting requirements when necessary.
  • Understand inventory control and solve issues as they occur.
  • Process and record bi‑weekly payroll, making necessary changes to paychecks when needed.
  • Submit 401(k) and HSA employee with holdings to third parties in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support HR tasks such as onboarding new hires, maintaining employee records, and assisting with benefits and insurance‑related inquiries.
  • Prepare data for Form 5500 filing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or related field.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Sage Intacct.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with services accounting and inter‑company transactions.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to direct and supervise.
