Overview

Develop and implement sustainability strategies and programs, focused on environmental and social priorities in product sourcing, including - but not limited to - Scope 3 Emissions, Animal Weflare, Plastics and Packaging, Critical Commodities, Human Rights, Nature, and Social Compliance . Work with a diverse set of internal stakeholders, including Brand teams, Category, Private Brands, Sourcing, Government Affairs, Communication, Group teams, and others to align business and sustainability objectives, while progressing against Ahold Delhaize USA (ADUSA) goals and targets.

Work with external stakeholders to further ADUSA sustainability priorities and scale impact, including NGOs, industry associations, multi-stakeholder forums, and others. Provide core technical and subject matter expertise and interface with teams and leadership to address and resolve issues. Influence cross-department action to set, achieve, and communicate sustainability goals.

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC , Chicago, IL, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME, and Hyattsville, MD.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities
  • Provides core subject matter and technical expertise (Scope 3 Emissions, Animal Weflare, Plastics and Packaging, Critical Commodities, Human Rights, Nature, and Social Compliance ).
  • Creates strategies and interfaces with Group, ADUSA Brand teams, Category, Sourcing, and Private Brand, Government Affairs, Communication, and others.
  • Addresses and resolves issues; understands impact to Brand strategies., business priorities, company reputation. etc.
  • Develops and implements sustainability strategies for key initiatives.
  • Manages policies and public statements regarding their sustainability area; manages formal repository for issue management statements and actions for ADUSA
  • Manage and collaborate with key external stakeholders (incl. NGOs, governmental agencies, associations, multi-stakeholder partnerships, and industry trade groups); documents, coordinates and communicates on critical issues externally to customers and other external stakeholders.
  • Identifies and assesses sustainability risks and opportunities; develops strategies, tactics, and programs to address issues.
  • Coordinates, aligns, and effectively communicate with ADUSA and brand teams responsible for helping deliver on sustainability goals and targets.
  • Facilitates sustainability reporting and analysis with relevant teams to measure program success and meet regulatory and external expectations
  • Manages and coordinates best practices for sustainable products programs and goals.
  • Develops and deploys product sustainability training. >
    Influences core business areas and all Brand teams to drive sustainable products expectations and progress
Requirements
  • Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies within a large organization.
  • Strong collaboration, project management, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to identify sustainability risks and opportunities and develop effective strategies.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes related to sustainability.
  • Ability to make complex emerging issues into digestible information for leaders.
  • Experience and execution in change management.
  • Demonstrated experience in helping organizations achieve sustainability goals.

ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $108,880 - $163,320

IL/MA/MD/NY Salary Range: $125,200 - $187,800
