The Information Services Specialist will assist in coordinating programs and events for teens and adults. Additionally, this position will assist in providing reference services and answering patrons’ questions to assure high patron satisfaction. Assists with the preparation and execution of library programs and events. Promotes the use of library resources through community contact. Serves as the staff point person during events, as requested.
Participates in the planning and development of community outreach events and library-wide campaigns, including the annual Summer Reading Program. Responds to patron inquiries for information or assistance, including in person, by telephone, mail, and electronically. Provide friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable customer service. Assist and instruct patrons using virtual resources, downloading digital content, and using publicly available technology, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines, in scheduled group programs or one-on-one training sessions.
Regularly work at the service desk and provide reference and reader’s advisory assistance. Plans and executes bibliographies, book displays, and other promotional materials relating to adults. Stay abreast of new technologies and library trends. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Two years of programming or related experience and/or library experience preferred. Ability to multitask. Proficiency with electronic resources and the ability to use library databases. Ability to work well with patrons and staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Creative and enthusiastic person with the ability to work with all ages. Reliable and self-motivated. Demonstrated computer experience required.
Knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, and library software preferred. A clean driving record and a valid driver’s license.
