Responsibilities include performing and documenting preventive maintenance and repair of general, specialized and/or high‑tech medical equipment and systems. The role involves:
- Performing preventive maintenance and repair of medical equipment and systems based on SOPs and service manuals.
- Using required test equipment and electronics, including pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical tools.
- Interpreting schematics and service information to carry out maintenance and repairs.
- Occasionally working on non‑medical devices such as Rapiscan, Gatekeeper, Evolv, Higi, etc.
- Conducting complex troubleshooting and repairs on designated modalities independently.
- Demonstrating proper installation, calibration, and preventative maintenance methods.
- Reading and comprehending prints and schematics to repair and calibrate per company procedures.
- Triage work orders, prioritize to meet contractual commitments.
- Maintaining spare part stock independently.
- Operating PC hardware and Microsoft‑based software.
- Communicating with internal and external customers and instructing them on equipment applications.
- Submitting service reports, time sheets, expense reports, and other paperwork accurately and timely.
- Maintaining daily back‑order reports, cycle count, and shipping needs; supporting additional projects as assigned.
- Managing own work as a self‑starter to meet customer needs.
- Being flexible for occasional nationwide overnight and weekend travel.
- Training others on operational functions of biomedical equipment and mentoring BMEE I.
- Performing other responsibilities as issued by the manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or completion of DoD Biomedical Equipment Repair School.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Excellent customer relations and interpersonal skills; ability to develop cooperative working relationships.
- Advanced judgment in complex repair, maintenance, and calibration of scientific equipment, and ability to provide guidance and mentorship to BMEE I.
- Independent problem‑solving skills and collaborative judgement.
- Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment operation, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of software applications and how they interface with equipment.
- Understanding of current regulatory requirements.
- Basic anatomy and physiology as applied to biomedical equipment usage.
- Knowledge of color code conventions used in component and wiring marking.
- Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic equipment.
