NFPA is looking to add a Fire Safety Education Specialist to the Outreach & Advocacy team! The Fire Safety Education Specialist independently plans and directs projects within the Association budget and specified deadlines. Identifies project objectives, coordinates resources and deliver project results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Manages the development and technical, educational and artistic quality review of NFPA public education projects including those that reach high-risk outreach audiences.
- Manages initiatives to expand Older Adult Programs and strategically grow relationships with Community Partners at state and national levels.
- Coordinate Spotlight on Public Education track in conjunction with meetings team in insuring workshops are planned, conducted and finalized during NFPA Conference & Expo.
- Assesses needs and develops programs that contribute to the NFPA strategic plan.
- Incorporates fire safety messaging for high-risk audiences in NFPA educational projects.
- Creates and implements work plans and revise to meet changing needs and requirements for projects.
- Creates and optimizes success evaluation methodologies for NFPA public education programs.
- Negotiates, develops and executes contracts for professional services including consultants and vendors.
- Monitors the financial status of activities to achieve goals within allocated budget and direct expenditure adjustments to assure fiscal health and sustainability.
- Develops and maintains relationships with national, regional, state and local fire safety educators.
- Serves as a media spokesperson for NFPA.
- Coordinate research projects on messaging across various ages from preschool to older adults.
- Develops and manages the public education network, Educator of the Year program and STAR scholarship programs, including establishing program plans and milestones and ensure adherence to target budget, dates and schedules. Understands program needs and selects then creates appropriate strategies to meet those needs.
- Writes, reviews, and develops educational materials, articles, and other outreach methodology for distribution of fire and life safety information as well as assists with Educational Messaging Document on a 3 year schedule.
- Represents NFPA at the local, state and national level in support of NFPA public education initiatives and works to coordinate related educational activities.
- Serves as technical liaison with Fire and Life Safety Education section.
- Position requires a Bachelors Degree; and 10 years experience in project management, product development, training or education. Experience in public health a plus. Experience working with high-risk audiences also a plus.
- Proven program management experience and excellent organizational, interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills are essential.
- Excellent research, writing and editing skills, high standard of accuracy, ability to produce exceptional work under pressure.
- Proven public speaking and media experience.
