Desktop Support Technician – Quincy, MA
Transdev in Quincy, MA is hiring a Desktop Support Technician. The desktop support technician provides in-person and remote support to employees and supports the System Administrator with IT projects and implementations.

Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day desktop operations by monitoring IT requests from users to resolve issues and requests. Provide technical support for both local and remote users. Maintain and support PCs and laptops in office and through remote connection.
- Manage user accounts, groups, and distribution lists for multiple systems. Perform adding, changing, or disabling user accounts, or coordinate with appropriate agency for user account requests. This includes new hires, role changes, and terminations.
- Maintain Inventory Tracking for hardware, software, and licenses.
- Setup new PCs, laptops, and user devices for employees, including software installs, configuring, joining to network, naming, connections, and testing.
- Perform software updates and hardware upgrades to PCs, laptops, and user devices.
- Diagnose and resolve user software and hardware issues. Work with vendors to repair or replace hardware. Work with vendor support to resolve software issues.
- Follow established Security Policies. Maintain EDR and SOC protection for user devices.
- Support client VPN software and VPN accounts. Maintain user Internet filtering system through firewall and Bitdefender to ensure approved and secure website access.
- Resolve basic connectivity issues for PCs, laptops, and user devices, including network wired and wireless issues. Collaborate with IT team for advanced connectivity issues.
- Utilize computer imaging technology to deploy standard configurations and software to PCs and laptops.
- Complete projects assigned by IT Manager or IT Lead in a timely completion.
- Embrace team efforts and support fellow IT team members to accomplish goals. Act as backup IT Systems Admin where appropriate. Assist IT Systems Admin as needed.
- Create documentation to provide user guidance for technology systems.
- Follow standard operating procedures for helpdesk requests and issues.
- 3+ years hands‑on experience deploying, upgrading, maintaining, and supporting desktop technology, laptops, user systems, user software, and user hardware in an enterprise environment.
- 3+ years experience diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues. This includes issues with user devices, security, networking, user accounts, wireless, and Windows.
- 2+ years experience using Active Directory, DNS, and TCP/IP networks. This includes AD user account issues, permissions, and access. Also includes user access issues, permissions, and groups.
- 2+ years experience supporting remote access for users with Remote Desktop Servers or similar technology. 2+ years experience supporting VPN clients and computer remote‑control software (like Team Viewer).
- 2+ years experience with email communication issues, including Office 365 apps.
- Must be able to support and resolve basic networking and wireless issues. Must be familiar with firewalls, switches, VLANs, and security. Proven ability to operate in a helpdesk scenario, following SLAs and SOPs to support remote and local user requests and issues.
- Experience using computer imaging technology to deploy user computers.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules as needed.
