Medical Wellness - Instructor - PT
South Shore YMCA
The Medical Wellness Instructor position is responsible for the administration and operation of the Medical Wellness programs offered within the South Shore YMCA for seniors, adults, teens, and youth, including Blood Pressure clinics throughout the year. The role also handles administrative work assigned by any grant (Federal or State funding). Responsibilities include scheduling, organizing, teaching/coaching, filing, and entering data.
Core Expectations- PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Directs and supervises program activities to meet community needs and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans when applicable. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- STAFF / VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Directs volunteers as needed to support programs and develops strategies to motivate volunteers.
- MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Builds relationships with members and community members, responds to inquiries, solves problems, creates a safe and supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause.
- BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Responsible for timely and accurate payroll submission.
- FACILITY MANAGEMENT Works with appropriate branch staff to provide program facilities that are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.
- COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT Assists in YMCA fundraising activities/events and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations to strengthen support and build community.
- Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university preferred.
- 2–3 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with medical wellness special populations preferred.
- Nursing experience preferred.
- The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with children & families, staff, volunteers, community leaders, agencies, and members.
- Effective communication skills, high level of enthusiasm, and a strong customer‑service orientation.
- Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; talk; and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
