Job DescriptionSynergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate firm, seeks a Residential Building Technician. This individual will be a key member of our maintenance staff working under supervision performing all maintenance duties and responding to work orders, tenant calls and other operational/administrative duties for an urban-based residential building. Synergy () is a real estate investment and operating company primarily focused on the Boston market.

- Monitors building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.
- Schedule and oversee the work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work includes landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.
- Assists in performing repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
- Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
- Able to troubleshoot appliances, make repairs and replace when necessary.
- Maintains the building lighting and HVAC systems and ensures Fire Protection systems are operating properly.
- Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed.
- Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
- Participates in off hours on call rotation, performs other duties as assigned.
- Work experience in building maintenance and operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic controls system, EMS and other building mechanical systems preferred.
- HVAC or Electrical skills a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Outlook; experience with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems.
- The candidate must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Work to be performed both inside the property and outside with exposure to weather, fumes, electrical current and machine noise.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, repetitive use of hands, power hand grasping, and reaching above and below shoulder level.
- Occasional sitting squatting, crawling, kneeling.
- May be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally weighing up to 75 pounds.
