SC Johnson, a fifth‑generation family company, is looking for a skilled HVAC Technician to join our Technical Resource Team. The role will maintain, repair, and install HVAC equipment across our manufacturing sites, ensuring operational reliability and safety.

Position Purpose

Maintain, repair, and install HVAC equipment such as roof‑top air handling units, exhaust systems, chillers, DX units, steam & condensate systems, and water utilities. Support site overhaul and preventive maintenance while working 1st shift (8‑hour day). Overtime may be required.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs on HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct mechanical, electrical, and duct system issues.
  • Maintain accurate service records and support documentation.
  • Apply LEAN principles and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and facilitate problem‑solving teams, loss teams, and autonomous production teams.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and participate in the Behavioral-Based Safety program.
  • Support shift rotations and work other shifts as needed.
Required Skills
  • EPA 608 Universal license
  • Refrigerant license
  • 5 years HVAC trade experience
  • Journeymen license or technical degree in HVAC
  • Technical certificates and certifications in HVAC trade
Preferred Skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and conduct minor electrical troubleshooting
  • Experience with refrigerant, electrical, and duct system troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems
  • Steam, condensate, pipe fitting knowledge
  • Utility services knowledge
  • Pump rebuilding skills
  • Understanding of safety, health, and environmental principles
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking
  • Basic math and measurement abilities
  • Team‑oriented, excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • RCM (Reliability‑Centered Maintenance) knowledge
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to handle substantial variety or complexity of tasks
