Laborer I, Laborer II – The City of Radford has openings for a full-time Laborer I, and a full-time Laborer II in the Public Works Streets Department. The successful candidates will perform a variety of unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks assisting with public works, water lines and solid waste and related operations. Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions;

ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in performance of heavy manual work. Exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Some positions must possess an appropriate commercial driver license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The City offers a generous starting salary along with an excellent benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision insurance, enrollment in VRS (Virginia Retirement System), vacation and sick time along with free life insurance coverage for full-time employees. Laborer I salary is $15.38 an hour and Laborer II salary is $16.10 an hour. Successful completion of pre-employment testing and background screening is a must.
