Job DescriptionThe New River Valley New Life Recovery Center is seeking a full-time Peer Recovery Specialist and/or Peer Recovery Trainee who would provide non-clinical, person-centered, wellness-focused support to engage clients in treatment and promote use of the client's wellness recovery plan.
The Peer Recovery position would share firsthand lived experiences with recovery to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment and in communities, and support consumers in articulating personal goals for wellness, recovery resiliency, and self‑advocacy.
The Peer Recovery role will have knowledge of the signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorders and the ability to assist the individual in addressing symptoms using their individual wellness recovery plan.
Peer Recovery position will provide:
- Peer Support;
- serve as a consumer advocate;
- carry out wellness rehabilitation for mental health and substance use and/or mental health conditions;
- promote employment, education, health, and community integration;
- serve as a model for personal recovery.
Services carried out by the Peer Recovery role include outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily‑living support, and similar functions.
CompensationStarting Hourly Rate: $12.71-Depending on Experience
Education Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have a mental health or substance use disorder that has impacted your life for two years or more, and must identify a year in recovery.
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist or demonstrated work towards certification.
Additional compensation will be considered for any new employees who speak multiple languages.
