Overview

JANUS Research Group seeks a Senior Windows Administrator to support the IT Services and Support (ITSS) requirements for the U.S. Army Product Lead Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Enterprise Systems and Services (PL ALTESS) requirement, in support of the Program Executive Office Enterprise (PEO Enterprise) in Radford, VA. This position is contingent upon contract award. Candidates must have an active DoD Secret clearance and verify, before applying, that you meet the minimum requirements.

The Senior Windows Systems Administrator will support the ALTESS Windows team in a mixed environment of Windows 2019 and Windows 2022. This role will work with the existing Windows team to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot, and support servers for a mixed customer environment. The candidate will plan, execute, and implement new system hardware and software and create and maintain team technical instructions, operating procedures, and policies as needed.

The Senior Windows Systems Administrator will monitor and tune system performance, ensure ongoing operation of the servers, harden the servers, and report the overall security and operational status. The position will also recommend improvements to the enterprise and manage new software/hardware integrations when required, while providing utilization reports using existing tools to identify problems and corrective actions as needed. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

The role provides lifecycle support for a mixed environment of vendor equipment in the data center, including firmware version control and periodic preventive maintenance, and may require recommending, demonstrating, and implementing technologies to expand, upgrade, and increase efficiencies in the current environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the ALTESS Windows team in a mixed Windows environment (Windows 2019 and Windows 2022).
  • Manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot, and support servers for a mixed customer environment.
  • Plan, execute, and implement new system hardware and software; create and maintain team technical instructions, operating procedures, and policies.
  • Monitor and tune system performance; ensure ongoing operation of servers; harden systems; report security and operational status.
  • Recommend improvements to the enterprise and manage new SW/HW integrations; provide utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate and implement technologies to expand, upgrade, and increase efficiencies in the current environment; provide lifecycle support for vendor equipment in the data center, including firmware version control and preventive maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively and work as part of a team to meet program goals.
Required Qualifications
  • CompTIA Security+.
  • Computing Environment (CE) Certification (i.e., Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Server+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Red Hat, Palo, etc., or the ability to obtain).
  • Experience in Computer Science or IT.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Five or more years' experience as a Windows Systems Administrator or Engineer with three or more years’ experience in automating assigned tasks utilizing powershell.
  • Five or more years’ installing, configuration, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex applications and websites (Internet Information Services (IIS)), Apache, etc.).
  • Five or more years’ experience working in an environment with complex networking solutions with senior level fundamental knowledge in networking principles, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP.
  • Five or more years’ experience managing enterprise level Active Directory Structures.
  • Five or more years’ experience creating and maintaining complex MS Group Policy implementations.
  • Five or more years' experience creating, maintaining, following Standard Operating Procedures for repeatable processes, disaster recovery, and common problem resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent years of experience.
