Job Summary
The Motor Associate is responsible for one or more of the following duties in the assembly of motors. This role may involve assembling, testing, painting, winding, and other manufacturing processes related to motor production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Motor Assembler:
Assemble all types of motors by reading and interpreting specification sheets, assembly drawings, outline drawings, and hook‑up drawings. Perform precision assembly of small and large units as required. Fabricate or form parts, coils, or structures according to specifications, using drills, calipers, cutters, or saws. Mark serial identification and maintain traceability records. Use BOM to pull correct parts for the assembly process. - Motor Tester:
Perform mechanical and electrical tests per IM, Test Procedure, and Motor Test Procedure. Abide by safety regulations. Operate test equipment including Goldline auto tester, MATS test station, and back‑drive station. Complete test data sheets. Ensure motors meet all test requirements. - Spray Painter:
Clean parts for painting and ensure they are free of dirt, grease, oil, and film. Mask unpainted areas, mix epoxy, lacquer, enamel with proper thinners, use correct mist spray, and maintain paint inventory. - Winder / Machine Winder:
Gather correct wire per winding data sheet and set up winding machine for stators or armatures. Maintain wire, laminate and insulator inventory using Kanban. Perform resistance tests, adjust machine parameters, and conduct other manufacturing steps such as crimping, soldering, varnishing, and pressing as required. - Encapsulation:
Perform skewing, motor encapsulation, varnish (dip and bake), sub‑assembly of components, patch, press windings, pre‑test armatures, and cleaning after encapsulation. - Rotor Assembler:
Assemble rotors by interpreting blueprints, inspecting dimensions with appropriate tooling, and fabricating or forming parts. Pull parts, balance, and maintain inventory. - Core Processing:
Bond and stack laminations, sandblast and deburr cores, apply coating, and spray paint cores. Use drawings, calibrations, and safety training for hazardous materials. - Magnet Processing:
Clean, deburr, bond, band, balance, and spray paint field assemblies. Follow shop travelers and procedures, maintaining knowledge of hazardous waste handling. - Lams and Commutator Bar Processing:
Complete laminations, end insulators, and commutator bars, including powder coating, wave soldering, tumble deburring, and inspection. - Undercut/Debur:
Hand and machine operations to prepare parts; deburr and undercut using lathes and milling machines following drawn procedures. - Commutation Devices:
Assemble brush spring segments, spot weld clips, clean, solder, inspect, and perform related machining and soldering tasks.

Working RelationshipsCoordinate with other associates within the cell and supervisor. Some positions include handing off completed work to the next cell in the assembly process.
Education and Experience Requirements- Knowledge of customer and personal service principles and processes; assessment of customer needs and quality standards.
- Familiarity with administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing and records management.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and basic arithmetic.
- Judgment to plan, perform, and decide on sequence of setups, operations, and processes within recognized methods.
- Self‑motivated and capable of completing tasks without supervision.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness.
The employee regularly uses hands, reaches, talks, and hears. The employee frequently stands, walks, and sits. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. May lift or move up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and focus adjustment.
