The Role at a Glance

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Visual Analytics Developer within the Data & Transformation Center of Excellence. This role will support the development of intuitive analytic and dashboard solutions to various actuarial teams within the Office of the Chief Actuary.

As a Visual Analytics Developer, you will leverage your extensive experience to contribute to the continuous improvement of our business intelligence processes and solutions. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated data visualizations, reports, and data models to meet the current and ongoing needs of the actuarial team.

What you’ll be doing Dashboard development
  • Collaborating with data developers and subject matter experts to translate business needs into effective analytics solutions
  • Designing and developing complex and performant dashboards and reports leveraging advanced calculations, parameters, and actions
  • Ensuring visual clarity, usability, and adherence to best practices in visual analytics design
  • Iterating on dashboards based on user feedback
  • Identifying and implementing strategies to optimize dashboard performance
Data modeling
  • Collaborating with data developers to build data sources optimized for self‑service visual analytics
  • Communicating and building data structure requirements
User training and support
  • Conducting training sessions for the broader user base on basic and intermediate Tableau skills
  • Providing ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to users
  • Creating documentation and training materials
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior developers as needed
Project and stakeholder management
  • Leading small to medium‑sized projects
  • Capturing detailed user requirements
  • Managing project tasks and tracking progress
  • Communicating updates, timelines, and potential roadblocks
  • Coordinating with upstream data developers to ensure data availability and quality for Tableau projects
What we’re looking for Must‑haves
  • 3‑5 years’ experience in designing, developing, and maintaining dashboards in visual analytics tools like Tableau, Power

    BI, Sigma, or Amazon Quick Sight
  • Experience with dashboard performance optimization within Tableau Server and/or Tableau Cloud
  • Experience with data modeling, data preparation, and ETL/ELT using SQL or Python
Nice‑to‑haves
  • Tableau certification
  • Experience using Dataiku
  • Actuarial knowledge

The pay range for this position is $79,601 - $145,100 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law.
