Senior Revenue Accountant

We’ve designed, built and launched an entirely new product category and are disrupting the handheld radio industry.

Our product is a simple, rugged, internet‑enabled smart‑device and all the software that runs with it, for B2B clients and frontline workers across multiple industries.

This role will be based in our Raleigh, North Carolina HQ.

What You Will Do
  • Develop a deep understanding of Relay products and the order‑to‑cash cycle to provide accurate revenue recognition guidance based on authoritative literature and the company’s policies.
  • Prepare monthly revenue recognition journal entries, AR, unbilled receivable and deferred revenue reconciliations, and other monthly close related tasks.
  • Review sales/purchase orders, specific customer contracts and invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper revenue accounting treatment, including multiple performance‑obligation arrangements. Document and account for new sales or renewal contracts in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Analyze and communicate the monthly P&L performance (specifically revenue and cost of revenue) through the preparation and presentation of concise financial summaries for monthly close meetings.
  • Prepare and review detailed work papers and supporting schedules, ensuring readiness for external audits and due diligence requirements.
  • Document, update and refine the company’s revenue recognition policy and participate in continuous improvements to streamline our revenue process.
  • Assist the Sr. Manager, Revenue Accounting in developing and implementing best practices for revenue recognition processes and internal procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with FP&A to ensure alignment on the calculation and reporting of key internal revenue metrics and KPIs.
  • Partner with the Billing team to execute monthly collections analysis and accurately calculate the A/R allowance.
  • Support broader accounting team initiatives and special projects through cross‑functional collaboration.
What You Will Have
  • 4–6 years of general ledger accounting, public accounting, or relevant experience.
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.
  • CPA designation or currently pursuing a CPA.
  • Hands‑on experience and understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition and experience in revenue accounting.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of US GAAP and accounting and financial processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail and a solution‑oriented mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and self‑motivated.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and execute autonomously close deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast‑paced changing environment.
What Would Be Preferred
  • Extensive hands‑on experience and understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition and experience in revenue accounting.
  • Experience with accounting at a SaaS company.
  • Experience with working in Net Suite.
