Senior Accountant Senior Tax Accountant Responsibilities

• Review and finalize monthly bookkeeping prepared by staff in Quick Books Online and Excel.
• Ensure accurate classification, reconciliations, and clean close documentation across multiple clients.
• Interpret financial statements, identify issues/trends, and support client financial review meetings.
• Serve as senior reviewer on cleanup engagements and complex client questions.

• Oversee preparation timelines and review business and individual tax returns.
• Prepare and/or review Corporate (1120/1120S), Partnership (1065), Individual (1040), and Nonprofit (990) returns.
• Identify proactive tax opportunities and support tax planning conversations.
• Ensure compliance with federal and North Carolina tax requirements.

• Review payroll and payroll tax reports from multiple payroll providers and ensure proper posting into QBO/Excel.
• Assist with setup for new payroll clients with IRS, NC DOR, NC ESC, FUTA/SUTA accounts as needed.
• Process and/or review sales and use tax reports.

• Lead daily workflow and priorities for Staff Accountants.
• Train developing staff in close procedures, bookkeeping quality standards, and tax support.
• Collaborate with the Owner on building scalable templates, checklists, and workflows.

• Assist with special client projects, transitions, software improvements, and internal initiatives.

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong Quick Books Online experience (cleanup, close, review, troubleshooting).
• Solid tax experience across business and/or individual returns.
• Deep understanding of financial statements and ability to explain them clearly.
• Confident communicator with business owners and internal team members.
• Organized, detail-driven, and able to manage multiple deadlines.

• Active or previous CPA license.
• Pro Connect (or similar tax software) experience.
• Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior accountants.
• Enjoys process improvement and systems-driven work.
