Position: Library Technical Assistant I (Part-Time, Temporary, Floating)

Library Technical Assistant I (Part-Time, Temporary, Floating)

Join the Wake Technical Community College Library team as a Library Technical Assistant I, a part‑time, temporary, floating position. The role supports the daily library operations and ensures efficient service to all users.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with acquisitions, collection development, circulation, reference service, and input of bibliographic information into the online catalog.
  • Perform interlibrary loan tasks including online searching, ordering, record‑keeping, and reporting; manage routing and returning of materials from partner libraries.
  • Prepare, process, and shelve or reshelve books, AV, serials, and other materials daily.
  • Conduct circulation duties, filing, and housekeeping.
  • Provide high‑level customer service and collaborate with other staff to resolve exceptions and concerns.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, automated systems, and PC applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Accuracy in shelving and filing library materials.
  • Basic knowledge of interlibrary loan practices and the Library of Congress Classification System.
  • Willingness to travel to different campuses as required; valid driver’s license and liability insurance approval.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience serving the public in a library or office setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferences
  • Experience with the Library of Congress Classification System.
  • Experience with shelving and filing in a library setting.
  • Experience with standard interlibrary loan practices in an online environment.
