Position: Superintendent (Foundations) (Travel Required)

Superintendent (Foundations) (Travel Required) Summary

The Superintendent manages the daily site activities for Foundations projects by ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with safety, design, budget, and schedule. The Superintendent directly manages the personnel and craft on each project site.

Responsibilities
  • Daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedule and workforce needs are being met.
  • Schedules subcontractors to complete work as needed and monitors subcontractor work to ensure it meets contractual agreements.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensures employees have up‑to‑date information on safety procedures and policies.
  • Conducts daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics.
  • Completes daily record keeping including logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and timecards.
  • Manages field personnel fairly and equitably in accordance with company policies, procedures, and local and federal laws.
  • Addresses staff performance issues as they occur.
  • Participates in pre‑construction meetings to discuss project start‑up and planning; prepares and participates in regular job site meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation for reporting safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries, according to policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all work follows specified quality standards; inspects field work for quality compliance, evaluates materials for quality compliance, and reviews manufacturer’s literature and drawings before work begins.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
  • Participates in training for construction methods and safety and supports training opportunities for staff.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of known actions, written or verbal, that may affect the ability to perform assignments or adversely affect company operations.
Requirements
  • Five years of experience overseeing a crew responsible for installation of deep foundation systems, including caissons, substation concrete, and helical piles.
  • Five or more years’ experience with foundation/ground improvement equipment (drills, concrete pumps, cranes).
  • Ability to oversee multiple jobs simultaneously while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and schedule.
  • OSHA 30‑hour, HAZWOPER, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, specifications, and legal documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad, and iPhone.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively schedule project needs and convey information orally and in writing to employees, clients, and business associates.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to speak before groups and individuals; able to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the community.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and apply them to field quantity situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from technical instructions or diagrams.
  • Must possess the ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • The Superintendent directly manages the lead personnel and staff on each project site.
Other
  • Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test.
  • Must be able to work 8 to 12‑hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed.
  • Heavy travel within the United States is required.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must be over the age of 18.
Physical Demands

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion, lift and or move up to 50 pounds, and often sit, stand, walk, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. Work Environment

The job requires exposure to environmental and working conditions common to construction sites, including proximity to machines and loud noises, as well as variable weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat. Employees may also encounter variable terrain. Candidates must complete a pre‑employment physical examination prior to hiring. The examination ensures all candidates meet health and fitness standards necessary for this role.

Completing and clearing this physical exam is mandatory.
