Traveling Superintendent-Structural Steel

Skillforce is seeking an experienced Traveling Steel Erection Superintendent to oversee commercial and light industrial steel erection projects throughout the Southeast region. This position is responsible for managing field crews, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality and safety standards, and delivering successful projects from start to finish. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in steel erection, leadership experience, and the ability to travel frequently.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise steel erection crews on commercial and light industrial projects
• Coordinate daily jobsite activities, scheduling, and manpower needs
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications
• Read and interpret structural drawings, plans, and job documents
• Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and enforce company safety standards
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and inspectors to keep projects progressing smoothly
• Monitor production, quality, and jobsite logistics
• Prepare and submit daily reports, documentation, and project updates
• Assist in resolving on-site problems or delays
• Maintain equipment, tools, and jobsite organization

Qualifications

• 5+ years of steel erection experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role
• Strong knowledge of commercial steel erection methods and practices
• Ability to read structural drawings and erection plans
• Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Southeast region for extended periods
• OSHA certifications or related safety training preferred
• Valid driver's license (company vehicle provided)
