Responsibilities- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
perform, conduct, document, and communicate outcomes of building inspections completed; determine compliance with approved plans, specifications, or applicable codes; utilize ICC reference library and NC building codes and regulations. - Perform Level II and Level III Inspection Services for new construction and remodeling projects as required by the North Carolina Building Code.
- Provide comprehensive plan reviews with or without comments; conduct on-site inspections and prepare reporting or documentation.
- Review plans and provide feedback to ensure project compliance with NC Building Code.
- Conduct required inspections and reinspections within applicable codes and local requirements, with a 48-hour prior notification window when applicable.
- Work away from or outside of the physical office location; operate within a 150-mile radius of Raleigh, NC.
- Collaborate and mentor local jurisdictional staff and assist in coordinating residential and/or commercial inspections.
- Work independently with minimal managerial oversight; maintain professional, ethical conduct on job sites.
- Demonstrate knowledge of construction activities, materials, systems, code compliance, and site safety.
- Interpret construction documents and provide clear, concise recommendations; document inspection activities accurately and expeditiously.
- Assist in analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, and permits.
- Attend, present, or facilitate client meetings and pre-construction/project progress meetings.
- Maintain organized project documentation and ensure it is complete, accurate, and up to date.
- Resolve construction-related issues in the field and report actions taken to appropriate parties.
- Observe, monitor, and inspect construction-related activities; communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and design professionals.
- Display strong communication, supervisory and mentoring skills, reliability, and attention to detail; knowledge of construction processes, quality control/assurance, scheduling, and building systems.
- Travel to construction sites as required; valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug screening.
