Excavator Operator Grading Operations

Sanford Contractors is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our Grading Operations division. As a family-owned company committed to making a positive difference in our employees' lives, we offer steady work, a supportive team, and excellent benefits.

In this role, you will safely and efficiently operate production excavators (such as CAT 345, 346, and 349) for site grading and earth-moving projects. Key responsibilities include performing daily fluid and equipment checks, assisting with utility location, unloading materials, rigging loads safely, maintaining clean equipment, and reporting issues promptly to the Pipe/Grade Foreman. Beyond machine operation, you will lead by example by practicing site safety, recognizing and correcting hazards, mentoring crew members, and attending daily project huddles.

Candidates must possess strong communication skills in English, working knowledge of OSHA standards, attention to detail, and a dependable, professional work ethic. Preferred certifications include OSHA, MSHA Part 46, Trenching and Shoring Competent Person, Rigging, and First Aid/CPR.

Work involves frequent shoveling, raking, using hand tools and handling materials in and around trenches or uneven terrain.
