Traveling Optometrist
As Elevate Eyecare continues to grow, we are creating a dedicated Traveling Optometrist role to ensure consistent, high-quality clinical coverage across our markets. This position is ideal for a doctor who thrives on variety, adaptability, and supporting diverse teams and patient communities throughout the year.
Position Highlights- Highly Competitive Compensation:
This role offers an elevated base salary reflective of the flexibility and travel required. - Guaranteed Bonus Structure: A guaranteed annual bonus is included as part of the total compensation package.
- Room & Board Included:
All travel-related expenses—including lodging, transportation, and per diem—are fully covered.
- Assignments will be scheduled in advance whenever possible
- Travel will occur only within states where the doctor is licensed
- Support provided by Elevate’s clinical, operations, and scheduling teams
- Multi-state licensure will be required (licensure support provided)
- Doctors who enjoy variety and new clinical environments
- Clinicians who prefer a higher-compensation structure
- Those who enjoy supporting multiple teams and practices
- Doctors seeking expanded experience across different clinic settings
- Doctors currently licensed in North Carolina or willing to obtain NC licensure
- Deliver exceptional eye care and create meaningful value for patients
- Examine, diagnose, treat, and manage disorders of the visual system, eye disease, and injuries
- Accurately prescribe glasses and contact lenses
- Review prescriptions and identify complex or specialized vision needs
- Maintain high standards of clinical accuracy despite patient volume or time pressures
- Diagnose and manage ocular and systemic health conditions, including identifying signs of diseases such as diabetes and referring appropriately
- Provide pre‑ and post‑operative care for eye surgery patients
- Educate and counsel patients on eye health, contact lens care, and treatment plans
- Utilize pharmaceuticals, vision therapy, low‑vision rehabilitation, and surgical co‑management as appropriate
- Pursue areas of clinical interest or specialization where applicable
- Strong communication and listening skills with patients and teammates
- Compassionate, professional, and patient‑centered approach to care
- Ability to adapt quickly to new teams, workflows, and clinic environments
- Sound clinical judgment and confident decision‑making
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems and clinical technology
- Strong teamwork and leadership mindset
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
- Active licensure in multiple states where Elevate operates (or willingness to obtain)
- Ongoing compliance with state licensure and CE requirements
