Thoracic Surgery Physician; MD​/DO - UNC Health Rex

Overview

UNC Rex is seeking a Thoracic Surgeon with expertise in robot‑assisted thoracic surgical disease including esophagus, foregut, lung, mediastinum, pleura, chest wall, trachea, diaphragm. Experience in robot‑assisted lobectomy, esophagectomy; advanced endoscopic procedures, first rib resection, pectus repair a plus. Board‑certified or board‑eligible in thoracic surgery. Multidisciplinary team, advanced care outside academic center.

• Provide professional medical services to patients.
• Exercise independent professional judgment in patient care.
• Order and prescribe medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care, pharmaceuticals.
• Consult, counsel, and educate patients and families.
• Refer patients as needed to appropriate specialists for multidisciplinary care.
• Document medical and clinical care in patient record and assign diagnostic/procedural codes for billing.
• Supervise other medical professionals.
• Adhere to principles of medical ethics.

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.

• DEA license
• MD license
• BLS certification

• Proficient in English communication.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Regular sitting, light hand use, occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, reaching.
