Physician, Hematologic Oncology

Overview

Wake Med Physician Practices is a multi-specialty group with over 450 physicians. We are committed to providing state-of-the-art health care to our patients and the community we serve. We are currently seeking physicians who have completed fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology to join our group in Raleigh, NC. An interest in GI Oncology is a plus.

Our medical oncology team consists of 6 physicians and 12 APPs with 2 additional oncologists to join in coming months. The candidate should be comfortable working with other specialists including surgical oncology, colorectal surgery, hepatobiliary surgeons, gastroenterologists, radiation oncologists and others. We have a well-established referral system from Wake Med employed GI and independent gastroenterologists in the area. Our surgeons provide trauma/emergency general surgery, colorectal, breast, thoracic, minimally invasive and bariatric surgery with 2 surgical oncologists slated to join in Spring/Summer 2025.

We have a weekly GI tumor board attended by surgeons, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and radiation oncologists along with a genetics counselor. There is a high-volume interventional and nuclear radiology center with radiotheranostics on-site. We are building a robust oncology clinical research program; experience in clinical trials is preferred but not required. There is an opportunity to teach Campbell University medical students and Wake Med Internal Medicine residents, along with opportunities to develop initiatives in expanding quality oncologic care in the triangle region.

A typical full-time schedule is approximately 40 hours per week (36 clinical contact hours and 4 hours for administrative tasks). Qualified candidates must be BE/BC.
