Adjunct Instructor, English as a Foreign Language
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of adjunct faculty to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes and tutor students in the English as a Foreign Language Lab. Openings for these positions may not exist at the present time; however upon review of your qualifications, you may be contacted directly by the department on an as‑needed basis.

Responsibilities- Evaluates initial student entry‑level skills to determine appropriate course placement and conferences with student on developing needed skills.
- Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course.
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
- Works cooperatively with the Individualized Learning Center and the EFL Lab.
- Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
- Remains up‑to‑date on technology and methods of teaching with technology.
- Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
- Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
- Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
- Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning.
- Innovative, creative, motivated and work well with others.
- Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills.
- Able to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently.
- Good organizational skills.
- Able to perform normal duties with minimum supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential.
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
Any field plus four or more years’ experience teaching Adult English as a Second Language or English as a Foreign Language courses. - Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or Applied Linguistics and Teaching ESOL.
- Bachelor’s degree in English or Linguistics with a TESOL Certification.

Preferences- Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language or related degree.
- Experience teaching at a community college or experience teaching college level academic courses.
