Part-time Instructor – Tutoring and Learning Center (Math)
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand its pool of adjunct faculty for tutorial support in Math, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, and Accounting. Positions may be opened as needed upon review of qualifications. The role includes providing tutoring activities to increase learning achievements in curriculum and continuing education areas.
Responsibilities- Provide tutoring services to increase learning achievements in curriculum and continuing education areas.
- Develop workshops and supplementary handouts as appropriate.
- Create publications and other communications projects that benefit the ILC.
- Ensure proper procedures for time cards and registration.
- Carry out administrative duties such as record keeping and meeting auditing requirements.
- Offer virtual tutoring services in the event of college closure due to inclement weather or other emergencies.
- Support all efforts of the ILC in facilitating its mission.
- Stay current in the tutoring/adult education field by taking workshops, classes, reading, or self‑instruction as part of staff development.
- Conduct mini‑workshops as needed.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to tutor major and/or non‑major level courses in Math. Ability to demonstrate a variety of instructional techniques and methods. Ability to be self‑directed, organized, task and detail oriented.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Math or related field.
- Full‑time or part‑time teaching and/or tutoring experience.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays.
- College transcripts must be uploaded with your application or submitted to the HR office prior to consideration for interview.
- Master's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education OR a Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics.
- One year experience in college‑level teaching and/or tutoring.
