Position Overview
The Data Science and AI Academy (DSA) is NC State’s first Academy, a university‑wide effort uniting all 10 colleges to promote data science across education, research, and service. The Academy offers 1‑credit project‑based courses and customized non‑credit courses grounded in the ADAPT model (All Campus Data Science Accessible Project‑Based Teaching and Learning). Instructors are drawn from industry, government, and academia and work to broaden participation among learners from many disciplines.
Instructors will join a professional teaching community that meets twice monthly to discuss data science teaching, research, and practice. Courses such as Data at Work and AI at Work are developed in partnership with clients, feature minimal lecturing, and address real‑world problems and challenges, enabling learners to engage in relevant practice and projects.

Temporary, part‑time, contract‑based teaching. Opportunities for renewal exist, and the position is only for teaching on a temporary and part‑time basis.
- Develop and teach customized, active, hands‑on, project‑based non‑credit courses in Data Science and AI.
- Collaborate with clients to design curriculum that addresses real‑world problems, tasks, and challenges.
- Participate in a professional teaching community that meets twice monthly to share best practices and research.
- Organize and facilitate coursework and projects aligned with client and university learning goals.
- Hands‑On Introduction to AI and Machine Learning
- Exploration of AI Uses in Human Resources
- Data at Work for Extension Agents
- Data Science Bootcamp for Incoming Graduate Students
- Advanced Excel and Power BI for government employees
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (data science, computing, analytics, or related discipline).
- Excellent strong communication and interpersonal skills with a sense of collaboration.
- Experience designing and delivering project‑based, active‑learning courses is preferred.
