Position: Part-time Instructor, Basic Law Enforcement Training

Part-time Instructor, Basic Law Enforcement Training

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand its pool of adjunct faculty to teach Basic Law Enforcement Training courses. Openings for these positions may not exist at the present time; however upon review of your qualifications, you may be contacted directly by the department on an as‑needed basis.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers instruction that reflects appropriate learning outcomes consistent with the most current Commission Standards.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner in compliance with the current Course Management Guide.
  • Remains current and knowledgeable in area of expertise.
  • Utilizes Adult Learning Concepts.
  • Conduct all required practical exercises and utilize all mandated equipment and audio‑visual aids noted in the lesson plans and/or instructor notes.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Read, understand, and interpret operating procedures and communicate orally and in writing.
  • Intermediate knowledge of presentation techniques incorporating various kinds of media production.
  • Ability to demonstrate a variety of instructional techniques and methods.
  • Critical Thinking Skills.
  • Ability to be self‑directed, organized, task and detail oriented.
Requirements
  • Valid Current Certified North Carolina General Criminal Justice Instructor Certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards or North Carolina's Sheriff’s Education Training and Standards.
  • Specialized instructor certifications and current CPR are required for some topical areas.
