Description of Work
Provide academic instruction for students who are deaf and hard of hearing in their primary mode of communication within a residential education setting.

/ Management Preferences
Responsibilities are broken down into the following categories:
- 75% Individual and small group instruction in academic areas such as reading, math, science, etc., as well as any required non‑academic areas that may be addressed by the IEP for K‑12 students, depending on placement. Effective instruction requires becoming knowledgeable about and implementing the assigned curriculum, preparing daily lessons, utilizing materials, resources, and manipulatives, and assessing and documenting student progress and performance.
(Lesson plans and assessment documentation will be supplied for supervisor review upon request.) - 15% Perform related activities such as:
- Planning instructional activities
- Preparing IEPs, attending to individual problems regarding student progress, performance, or behavior
- Preparing report cards
- Supervising and instructing teaching assistants
- Gathering and/or preparing instructional materials
- Supervising student teachers and/or observers from various colleges
- Participating in school‑related activities, committee meetings, and in‑service workshops
- Planning and implementing field trips
- Administering formal and informal tests/assessments
- 5% Communicate with other programs (residential, student support, etc.) on and off campus; serve as liaison between residential and academic staff, between academic staff and parents, and between academic staff and local educational agencies. Serve as a resource person for other schools. Administer, proctor, compile, and submit any and all state‑mandated tests, portfolios, and inventories while upholding state policies and procedures for testing at all times.
