Essential

Job Duties Student Assessment and Case Management
  • Conduct behaviorally and clinically informed one‑to‑one assessments with students to identify and mitigate barriers to personal and academic success, including threat assessment for self or others.
  • Provide timely and appropriate referrals to university and off‑campus resources; coordinate intervention plans to minimize or resolve student concerns.
  • Monitor and track student progress to ensure compliance with recommendations, ongoing assessment, and identification of emerging concerns.
  • Create and manage re‑entry strategies for students returning after psychological hospitalization.
  • Serve on key cross‑campus support and assessment teams:
    • NC State CARES Team – assess and support students of concern.
    • Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT) – assist with threat assessments when appropriate.
    • Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) – participate as needed.
  • Participate in after‑hours postvention and case review rotation; occasional evening or weekend outreach responsibilities.
  • Maintain service schedule of approximately 50% direct student/faculty/staff support and 50% administrative responsibilities.
Data Management, Documentation & Assessment
  • Accurately document all correspondence, notes, and action items in the Maxient database.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining ethically sound data collection and analysis related to students of concern.
  • Use data to support continuous improvement and best‑practice development in case management and prevention services.
Outreach, Prevention Education & Training
  • Provide comprehensive outreach and consultation to faculty, staff, students, and families through presentations, workshops, and creative multimedia efforts.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure consistent, integrated messaging around prevention, well‑being, and student support.
  • Complete required training (e.g., QPR Suicide Prevention) and deliver training programs to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Support university‑wide prevention initiatives addressing topics such as suicide prevention, case management, and well‑being.
Program Coordination, Areas of Emphasis & Campus Partnerships

Coordinators may hold responsibility for one or more areas of emphasis based on unit needs.

  • Coordinate resources, programming, and direct services within the assigned area(s) of emphasis (e.g., suicide prevention, alcohol and other drugs/recovery, peer education, training, assessment).
