About the Organization
One of the leading private schools in Raleigh, N.C., Wake Christian Academy was established in 1966 and operates as a biblically‑based, Christ‑centered Christian day school. It is a private, unaffiliated, board‑governed, nonprofit institution that seeks to maintain high academic and spiritual standards.

The school, consisting of kindergarten, elementary, middle school, and senior high school levels, is concerned with the spiritual as well as the intellectual growth of its students. Wake Christian Academy is a fully accredited member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia. Wake Christian Academy strives to maintain a high standard of excellence as set forth by these organizations.
WCA teachers are certified by ACSI, and many faculty members maintain licensure by the State of North Carolina.

Day‑to‑day care of the students in the after‑school care program. The After‑School Counselor is responsible for leading, developing, and building relationships with the student participants in the after‑school care program.

- Total number of school days – 180
- Regular school days maximum of 3 hours a day (or less) – 172 regular school days
- 2:45 pm – 6 pm (based on weekly schedule)
- School half days a maximum 6 hours (or less) – average number of half days a year = 8 throughout the school year
- 11:30 am – 6 pm (some half days may end before 6 pm – depending on schedule and number of students)
- Regular school days maximum of 3 hours a day (or less) – 172 regular school days
- Wake Christian Academy seeks professionally qualified applicants who have a love for children and who, by the pattern of their lives, are Christian role models (Luke 6:40), while adhering to the school's faith‑based mission.
- Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony (Galatians 5:22‑23)
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ (John 3, Ephesians 2:8‑9)
- Participate in a local Bible‑believing church
- Ability to apply Biblical solutions to problems
- Personal integrity and self‑motivation in the fulfillment of WCA mission
- High school diploma or higher
- Speaks, reads, and writes English fluently
- At least 16 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children or teens preferred but not required.
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor education, planning and organizing activities, crafts, songs/music, skits, sports, recreational games, etc.
- Specific certifications and/or training may be required.
- Supervises and builds relationships with a group of elementary and/or middle school students.
- Implements program activities that are developmentally appropriate and consistent with WCA values.
- Creates an atmosphere that is fun, safe, friendly and challenging.
- Mentors and models responsible behavior while leading children in the program.
- Models and facilitates relationship‑building skills in all interactions and maintains positive relationships with students, parents, After School Care staff and other WCA school staff.
- Adheres to WCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations.
- Ensures that space and equipment used for the program are taken care of and left in good, clean condition daily.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings when required.
- Ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly through speech and understanding of the English language.
- Ability to walk, run, stand, kneel, stoop, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
