Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Physics. Candidates may be contacted in the future if qualifications meet our needs and positions are available.

Essential functions of the role include providing quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part‑time, temporary basis at various locations.

Responsibilities
  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Designs curriculum and rails of instruction
  • Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
  • Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up‑to‑date and appropriate
  • Remains up‑to‑date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Attends professional development opportunities when possible

  • Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
  • Innovative, creative, motivated and work well with others
  • Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills
  • Able to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to perform normal duties with minimum supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Physics or Physics Education OR a Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Physics
  • One year full‑time or equivalent teaching experience in the area of Physics
