Special Education Teacher, Education Administration, School Counseling & Student Support
The Fletcher Academy seeks a strong educator with a background in special education and relevant experience in independent school administration to serve as its next Upper School division head. This person will oversee day-to-day academic operations and will supervise, advise and guide a dedicated team of administrators, faculty and support staff. This position reports to the head of school, who will orient, supervise, evaluate and provide guidance as needed.
As an independent school leader in the field of special education, Fletcher follows a whole-child learning model that specializes in serving the needs of students diagnosed with LD, ADHD, working memory deficits and processing disorders. It is a joyful and respectful learning community. The Academy is well-resourced, possesses over $40 million in assets and holds zero debt.
TFA's Upper School occupies a beautiful 7 acre campus in Raleigh, NC and serves approximately 170 students in 7th-12th grades. The Upper School possesses an excellent, structured academic model designed to accommodate and support students' specific, unique learning differences. This position requires a bachelor's degree, and a masters or doctorate in the field of education is preferred. We also seek candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- Background knowledge & experience serving students with learning disabilities
- Significant work experience within an independent school environment
- Experience in the field of school administration
- Relevant and applicable certifications
- Positive reputation as an education professional
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfort fielding unique problems and adept at implementing well-informed, wise solutions
- Patient, kind, inclusive and collaborative disposition

- Positive work history as a team player and hard worker
