Overview
Wake Tech Community College (WTCC) is seeking a current Wake Tech student to join the Energy, Sustainability, and Transportation (EST) department as a student worker. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands‑on experience in the building automation, energy, and sustainability industry environments.
Responsibilities- Conduct research, gather data, and prepare reports/presentations to support project initiatives.
- Assist with field operations, including functional audits, data logging and troubleshooting building systems.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of building operations data and documentation.
- Provide support to the EST team in day‑to‑day operations.
- Maintain accurate records and information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend drawings, specifications, and manuals.
- Capability to understand and learn how to operate data collection and testing equipment.
- Ability to climb a ladder, lift 30 pounds, and navigate tight spaces.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook); ability to learn BAS, analytics, and utility data software.
- Current student at Wake Tech, enrolled in a technical or science program.
- Must have the ability to travel between Wake Tech campuses.
- Student enrolled in fields related to Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Building Automation Technology, AHR Program, or Facilities Management.
- Experience working with BAS controls, industrial controls, HVAC systems, electrical systems, or similar building maintenance related work.
