CDM Smith is seeking a Transportation Hydraulics Engineer 5 to join its Southeast team renowned for roadway and hydraulic design solutions.

• Design hydraulic systems for a spectrum of transportation projects ranging from busy urban thoroughfares to rural roads.
• Collaborate with marketing and project pursuit activities to expand department reach.
• Lead task teams under seasoned Project Managers on roadway hydraulic components within large projects.
• Handle complex technical challenges with autonomy.
• Mentor junior colleagues and serve as knowledge beacon.
• Steer engineering and technical teams to ensure project success.
• Work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary coordination environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; 5% travel.

• Experience with roadway hydraulic design including ditches, small pipe culverts, storm sewer systems, outfall analysis, and drainage investigations.
• Bridge and/or culvert hydraulic design over streams using FHWA guidelines.
• Design and permitting of stormwater systems for roadways including rural, urban, and limited access systems.
• Proficiency with Microstation CADD, Geopak Drainage Software, HY8, HECRAS, HEC1 or HECHMS, ARCGIS, Open Roads Designer, and NCDOT design standards.
