Job DescriptionWSP USA is initiating a search for a Full‑time Lead Consultant – Commissioning for our Raleigh, NC office. The role supports technical staff, engineers, and project managers to validate the construction, integrity, operability, and commissioning of building systems and facilities projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with the planning, directing, coordinating, testing, and commissioning and retro‑commissioning of building systems including HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, and automation.
Key responsibilities include generating accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding assigned equipment configuration, optimization studies, system functional testing, readiness testing, and the transition from the construction phase to full operations. The incumbent ensures responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for performance, reliability, safety, and security for building inhabitants.
Responsibilities- Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site during various construction phases, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer‑generated reports, and other matrices for project energy auditing actions, validation, and commissioning.
- Perform professional building and system commissioning work by conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.
- Develop and oversee configuration, testing specifications, and readiness plans; preparing and updating checklists/punch lists and cost estimates that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub‑consultants, and clients.
- Involved from project inception to completion for commissioning work deliverables throughout the various project work phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, integration, installation, and operation.
- Develop and incorporate advanced technologies, monitoring, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications; implementing future‑ready solutions with building systems operating standards.
- Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to commissioning and retro‑commissioning of building systems including HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, and automation.
- Oversee and monitor cross‑functional teams to execute project work on mid‑level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, technical calculations, permit applications, schematics, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
- Coordinate, review and approve commissioning and operational plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross‑sections, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and other 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of more complex data, findings, or analyses.
- Maintain quality control standards, document logs of control and equipment functionality testing and verification, and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, calculations, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Assist with development and scoping of medium‑to‑large‑sized commissioning projects.
