Campus Planner

Salary: $95,000 – $100,900

Overview

As a Campus Planner, you will guide long‑term development and strategic initiatives across NC State University, shaping the physical campus environment.

Responsibilities
  • Translate the university’s strategic plan into campus facilities plans.
  • Develop and lead architectural and space studies, including building interior and MEP systems analysis.
  • Provide design solutions for building architecture, interior spaces, and land use design in accordance with the Physical Master Plan.
  • Assist in recommending implementation of the Physical Master Plan through schematic designs, feasibility studies, and development plans.
  • Coordinate with campus leadership, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to assemble decisions and represent the university as an expert.
  • Manage multiple projects, prioritize, anticipate issues, and develop detailed action plans with minimal oversight.
  • Provide project management oversight and may supervise lower‑level staff.
  • Contribute to major campus planning efforts, manage implementation of projects/plans, and maintain approval authority.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or related discipline.
  • Experience managing multiple capital projects and prioritizing work.
  • Strong working knowledge of architecture and/or engineering principles; familiarity with building codes and standards.
  • Proven experience developing planning and design strategies for varied building types.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate, develop, and manage processes, procedures, and guidelines related to campus planning and development.
  • Valid driver’s license required; NC driver’s license required within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with architecture design for complex projects and strategic planning for the physical campus.
  • Experience with university design and planning projects as a consultant or institutionally.
