General Responsibilities- Perform all aspects of electrical engineering design as lead engineer, including conceptual studies, program requirements, design analyses, calculations, equipment selection and layout for building design and site utilities.
- Meet with clients to prepare and validate proposed scope of services.
- Direct and supervise the work of EITs or designers, particularly where engineering judgment is exercised and unusual or difficult problems are encountered.
- Obtain guidance from senior engineers and department head to resolve technical and coordination issues and conflicting criteria.
- Comply with company quality control policies and procedures.
- Provide and supervise electrical support services during bidding process, preparing addenda and amendments as required.
- Perform and supervise electrical construction phase services, including representing the firm on site, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings.
- Work with, respond to, and take direction from project managers, principals, and senior management.
- Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other members.
- Direct, supervise, and train junior electrical staff as directed.
- Mentor and monitor professional development of junior staff.
- Prepare effective and concise documents and correspondence.
- Deliver effective presentations to a variety of groups.
- Maintain a can‑do attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional services.

- Dedicate to the advancement of the engineering profession.
- Graduate of an ABET‑accredited 4‑ or 5‑year engineering program in Electrical Engineering (building design or power distribution focus), Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering (Electrical focus), or Architectural Engineering Technology.
- Fully licensed Professional Engineer in at least one U.S. state, preferably in the local jurisdiction.
- Understanding of sustainable design principles with LEED AP accreditation preferred.
- Certifications such as CEM, RCDD, or CLEP desirable; additional certifications (CDT, CCS, CCCA) encouraged.
- Active participation in IEEE, IES, or other professional organizations desirable.
- Proficiency with company software for word processing, e‑mail, accounting, and information management.
- Familiarity with design and production software to understand capabilities, limitations, and to collaborate with support staff.
- At least four years of significant design and practice experience in a leadership role at an electrical engineering or multi‑disciplinary A&E firm, with substantial knowledge of applicable energy codes and standards.
- Strong experience designing building power distribution, lighting, communications, and security systems desirable.
- Experience as lead designer or electrical engineer on federal, state, municipal, healthcare, commercial, higher education, or similar projects, and experience with Design/Build and CM at Risk delivery methods desirable.
- Previous experience with wireless communications projects will be given additional consideration.
At JMT, we prioritize a healthy work/life balance and offer a flexible hybrid working schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most work is desk‑based, standing, walking, bending, and lifting of minimal weight may be required.
