This position is fully remote. The max rate for this position is $95.00. The Systems Admin will support and manage all aspects of planning, configuring, deploying, supporting, and decommissioning AIX systems. Admin will assist with integration with other Enterprise software utilized by the organization. Admin will assist with Quality Assurance for the section in the delivery of systems and applications, provide Problem Resolution assistance.
The Systems Admin includes support for the distributed hosting section in providing statewide services located at datacenters and remote sites in an Enterprise scale environment with high growth rates and statewide responsibilities. The Systems Admin will assist in designing and architecting infrastructure solutions and providing incident response with high customer satisfaction. This is a 24x7x365 shop and there is an on‑call rotation with potential for after‑hours support needs.

VM administration, AIX OS installation (via NIM) and configuration, OS user, group creation, administration, HMC administration. Strong comfort level with Big Fix and NIM administration and automation, Power Systems firmware upgrades, SSH/SFTP client/server administration, SUDO and Netbackup client configuration Solid foundation with network concepts and AIX, VIOS network administration (Ethernet, VLANs, TCP/IP, 802.1q, vSwitches, SEAs), NFS client/server administration, SUDO configuration, LDAP client administration.
In depth familiarity with Shell scripting (Bourne and Bourne relatives), Automation programming (i.e., sed, awk, Perl, Python), as well as AIX performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting. Candidate should grasp the principle of least privilege, and understand how to design and configure AIX platforms to support applications, processes, and accounts to run with as few system privileges as possible while still achieving desired processing outcomes.
Candidate should be able to participate as IBM Power Systems, AIX subject matter expert (SME) on multi‑discipline project planning, support, and troubleshooting teams.
