Principal Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a leader in medical device innovation, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of the Advanced Development Department supporting research, design, and manufacturing of cutting‑edge medical devices. Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer

Hybrid role: Flexible Schedule - Part‑Time 3 days in office, averaging 20 hr/week
Location: Raleigh, NC

Pay Range: $65.00/hr w2

• Lead technical development of system features and functions for medical devices, collaborating across engineering teams.
• Manage project timelines and team members to ensure project milestones are met efficiently.
• Develop and test innovative concepts, ensuring alignment with clinical and business needs.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the product development lifecycle, adhering to GDP and GMP standards.
• Design and execute validation tests, develop test plans, and oversee prototype testing and manufacturing processes.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in design and manufacturing within the medical device or component development industry.
• Experience with design control, verification, validation, and manufacturing process development.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Solid Works and understanding of ISO and FDA regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding, die casting, metal stamping, and machining.
