Job Description & How to Apply Below

Job title: Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent

Pay: up to $140,000 + benefits

Samuel James is hiring for an established water and wastewater treatment plant contractor.

They've been building plants for over 40 years and have an NC office in Wake County. They only build water and wastewater plants. They self-perform the concrete, process and yard piping and site work, and run their own crane and heavy equipment fleet.

They have four plant expansions live in North Carolina right now, worth over $350m combined. The biggest is a $150m+ membrane bioreactor expansion in the Triangle. The others include a $100m+ S  upgrade taking a plant from 7.5 to 16.5 MGD, a new BNR basin expansion and a new clarifier and influent pump station package.

They want experienced field superintendents to run these jobs from mobilisation through to startup.

What you'll do
  • Run day-to-day field operations on a water or wastewater treatment plant: process concrete, yard and process piping, mechanical and equipment installation
  • Lead self-perform crews and foremen, and coordinate subs, suppliers and startup teams
  • Own the look‑ahead schedule, daily reports, safety and quality on site
  • Work with the PM, the design engineer and the owner's reps on municipal jobs, including design-build and CMAR delivery
What they're looking for
  • 5+ years as a superintendent or senior field lead on water or wastewater treatment plant construction
  • Hands-on experience with process structures: basins, clarifiers, digesters, filters, clear wells, pump stations
  • A self-perform background, and comfort leading your own crews rather than just managing subs
  • Open to project-based work across NC, with some regional travel
  • OSHA 30 preferred
Why this one
  • Long-term backlog in NC, with multi-year jobs rather than one-off projects
  • A specialist contractor, where plant work is the whole business and not a side line
  • They own their equipment, so no waiting on rentals
  • An engineering team in-house that supports the field
