Position OverviewResponsible for managing a designated Commercial loan portfolio, including portfolio management, credit underwriting, and ensuring compliance with bank and regulatory guidelines. Responsible for the quality of underwriting and ongoing portfolio management metrics for portfolio under purview. Assists Commercial Relationship Managers in the management of client relationships while maintaining a high degree of creditability. The incumbent typically works on loans/portfolios of lower complexity as the incumbent’s work requires significant oversight.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Underwriting, monitoring, and analyzing assigned Commercial portfolio.
- Ensure risks are identified timely, maintaining high accuracy and quality underwriting, and aligning portfolio management practices with the bank’s risk appetite and regulatory standards.
- Maintain professional development and measurable objectives.
- Lead on complex transactions, including syndications, multi-level capital structures, and/or Middle Market relationships while demonstrating excellent communication skills to voice opinion clearly and concisely, solving problems and making recommendations regarding credit structure, risk, appropriate risk ratings and policy compliance.
- Monitor and ensure the assigned portfolio stays within acceptable tolerances and published KPIs/KRIs.
- Assist Commercial Relationship Managers in client relationship management while maintaining a high degree of creditability and optimizing relationships directly with Relationship Managers.
- Ensure sustained satisfactory reviews by regulators, internal auditors, external auditors, and loan reviews for depth of underwriting, identification of policy exceptions, and appropriate underwriting stress analysis of credits underwritten.
- Work with management on group-wide initiatives for process, role and responsibility enhancements, and/or output improvements.
- Effectively present proposed credit actions in written analysis documents and verbally to committees and meetings as necessary.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
